Looking back over the years at Trinity Church, we have had a somewhat turbulent history. We’ve known both victories and defeats but we also know what God has done for us as individuals and as a body of believers. We are grateful to the churches of Brentwood for their prayers over many years and for their willingness to embrace us back into fellowship in the more recent past. Their love has covered a multitude of sins.
In that same spirit of love, we want to reach out to those who have been hurt or offended by circumstances from the past which involve some or all of us at Trinity today.
We have learned many hard lessons and we would like to be able to rebuild relationships on the basis of mutual trust and understanding. Where there is anyone who has longstanding issues that they would like to discuss, we are ready and willing as a leadership team to listen, to understand and together to seek God’s healing and forgiveness.
At our recent Easter Conference, the choir presented a song written by Gloria Gaither which in many ways expresses our heart today.
I then shall live as one who’s learned compassion.
I’ve been so loved, that I’ll risk loving too.
I know how fear builds walls instead of bridges;
I’ll dare to see another’s point of view.
And when relationships demand commitment,
Then I’ll be there to care and follow through.
Your Kingdom come around and through and in me;
Your power and glory, let them shine through me.
Your Hallowed Name, O may I bear with honour,
And may Your living Kingdom come in me.
The Bread of Life, O may I share with honour,
And may You feed a hungry world through me.
