Hallowed Be Thy Name

Pastor Peter Linnecar continues his series of short devotionals on the Lord’s Prayer, with how we need to respect and revere the name of God.

“Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name.” The word ‘hallowed’ isn’t used much today, but it means ‘respected.’ I don’t know about you, but when someone uses the name Jesus Christ as a swear word, there’s something about that which really grates with a Christian.

Jesus Christ’s name is above every name. And at His name, every knee shall bow. “Hallowed be Thy name” shows us that there is something about the name of Christ, the name of Jesus, the name of God which is to be revered and respected.

People talk about the need for disciple in our society, yet all of us need to respect and hallow the name of Jesus Christ and God.
