Forgive Us Our Trespasses
Pastor Peter Linnecar continues his series of short devotionals from the Lord’s Prayer, with “forgive us our trespasses.”
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He included this line, “And forgive us our trespasses.” What a wonderful series of words that is, because it hits right at the heart of why Jesus Christ Himself came to this earth.
Forgive us our trespasses – you know, it’s possible for you and me to be in a type of prison cell with an open door if we don’t allow God’s forgiveness to take place. Guilt is a terrible thing, and on the cross, Jesus took into Himself our sin. Not only did He remove our sin, He took its penalty, and the power of sin in our life was broken.
“Forgive us our trespasses” is a wonderful, wonderful phrase, because Jesus Christ came to this earth to save sinners like you and like me, and He forgives us all our trespasses.
